World Wide Gourmet Foods’ Ship Comes In

World Wide Gourmet Foods sets sail with Leila Bay Trading Company; captures gourmet salts.

June 23, 2008 - Woodinville, WA – World Wide Gourmet Foods, Inc. is pleased to introduce a new line of twelve gourmet salts marketed under the Leila Bay Trading Company™ brand. The gourmet chef’s search to add more flavor to meals has brought the return of gourmet salts. Sea salts have gained gourmet status as they have joined other seasonings due to their texture, color, and even taste as home chefs have learned of the benefits of using these unique salts. Leila Bay Trading Company is releasing their gourmet salt product line to heighten culinary value in salts to the gourmet home chef.

“Salts are the baseline of properly prepared gourmet food,” Jack Praino, President and Owner of World Wide Gourmet Foods states, “without the proper use of salts the dish can either be great or become a disaster.”

Gourmet salts, including unrefined sea salts and mineral-rich rock salts, are gaining exponential popularity because of the better taste and texture than with typical table salt and the perceived health benefits. While traditional table salt contains chemicals to whiten and keep the crystals from clumping, all Leila Bay Trading Company’s salts are free of bleaching and anti-caking agents to provide the most natural sea salt possible. The uniquely different chemical composition from trace minerals which is based from where the salt comes is what gives gourmet salts their fingerprint of a color, taste, and saltiness.

Fleur de Sel, which is a young, wet crystal, is often noted as the finest of the sea salts and provides the perfect finishing salt for any dish. Alaea, a sea salt combined with Hawaiian red clay to add trace minerals. These traits which identify the salt, compliment varying types of meat, poultry, fish, or even vegetables which make these finishing salts perfect for the weekend griller or the gourmet chef.

Leila Bay Trading Company’s line of twelve gourmet salts currently include: two white sea salts, Marazul traditional and Pyramis kosher flake; three French sea salts from the Guérande region of France, Fleur de Sel and a coarse and fine variety of Sel Gris; four exotic salts, Alaea and Nanahu o Kai from Hawaii, Murray River from Australia, and Himalayan from the Himalayas; and three smoked sea salts using traditional smoking methods, Smokehouse Alder Smoked, Amarillo Hickory Smoked, and Applewood Smoked sea salts. Leila Bay Trading Company gourmet salts will be available at stores and on the web at www.leilabay.com starting June 23, 2008.
